0If the Wall Street Journal’s source is to be believed, we’re bound to see a $99 Android tablet to match up with Google and Asus’s Nexus 7.
According to WSJ’s insider, Acer’s upcoming Iconia B1 will be the $99 model in question and that it will sport a 7″ inch display with resolution 1024×600 powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz processor paired with a PowerVR SGX 531 GPU. Comparing this to Asus’ Nexus 7 offerings, it’s a tad below the current Nexus’ spec with the upside of costing just $99 compared to the $199 asking price for Google’s 7″ tablet.
Following the specs, the WSJ source indicate that Iconia B1 may not be sold in the United States and may only be available in emerging markets like several Asian countries (including the Philippines). While the rumored specs are disappointing, it’s still a cut above the current budget tablets in the market today.
