As a MacBook Pro user, switching to a desktop computer at home makes me miss the trackpad on my notebook. While a mouse does serve as a more accurate pointing device, for 90% of my time in front of the PC the trackpad does suffice. Apple is happy to comply with this apparent need of a trackpad on desktops with the Magic Trackpad.
The Magic Trackpad is basically a larger version MacBook trackpad, sporting 80% more surface area with full support for multitouch and gestures: two-finger scrolling, pinch to zoom, fingertip rotation, and three- and four-finger swipes.
The Magic Trackpad connects to your PC using Bluetooth so you don’t have to deal with cables. The downside however is that it’s battery powered just like the Apple Magic Mouse. For anyone interested and looking for a comparable product, you may want to look at the Bamboo PEN & Touch, a cheaper alternative from Wacom.
The Magic Trackpad goes on sale for $69. Batteries and the charger aren’t included.
