Microsoft has proudly announced via their development team blog that as of today, Windows 7 has already sold 150 million licenses. Doing the math, that’s 7 copies of Microsoft’s flagship OS sold every second. A claim echoed by Microsoft Communications Manager for Windows Brandon LeBlanc.
“Windows 7 is the fastest selling operating system in history with 7 copies sold every second,” LeBlanc said. “Between companies actively deploying and evaluating it, approximately 75% of enterprises are looking at Windows 7 for their organization.”
While Windows 7 might have sold well on it’s own merits, a huge part of the success that the OS is enjoying now can be attributed to Microsoft’s marketing team. The Windows 7 Whopper and the unofficial OS-tan Nanami-chan are just a few of the software giant’s more interesting campaigns to raise awareness for it’s new operating system.
In part of the celebration, LeBlanc wanted to inform everyone that Microsoft will be releasing new beta versions of Messenger, Photo Gallery, Movie Maker, and Sync. These updates will be free and are part of the Windows Live Essentials software package.
