Parts of Edsa closed to traffic on Feb. 24, 25 for 26th

MANILA, Philippines — In anticipation of the upcoming People Power anniversary, some parts of EDSA will be closed to traffic starting tomorrow (Feb 24, PHT).

MMDA has issued an advisory via it’s Twitter account, calling for motorists to take alternate routes to avoid heavy traffic. According to the agency, the 4th and 5th northbound lanes of Edsa near the People Power monument across the Corinthian Gardens will be closed from 3 to 5 a.m. the MMDA said for the “rehearsal” of the activities on Friday, Feb 24.

Starting saturday, the following areas will be closed to traffic:

  • From 12:01 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. – fourth and fifth lanes of Edsa Northbound from Corinthians Gate to Aguinaldo Gate 4;
  • From 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. – Edsa northbound fully closed from Ortigas toward Santolan northbound; and
  • From 4:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. – White Plains Westbound from Temple Drive toward Edsa.

The advisory indicated the alternate routes to be: Ortigas flyover to San Juan, Ortigas eastbound to C5, Shaw Boulevard eastbound to C5, JP Rizal to Makati, Mandaluyong Bridge, Edsa Kalayaan to C5, and Shaw and Julia Vargas to C5.

MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino assured additional traffic enforcers will be deployed along Edsa and the alternate routes.
