Sony Xperia ICS release rollout to begin mid-April

Staying true to their promise of ICS for their current Xperia smartphone line, Sony will be releasing Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to the following phones over a four-to-six week period:

Xperia Arc S
Xperia Neo V
Xperia Ray

Thereafter, the mid-range and the former top-end line gets their share of ICS goodness:

Xperia Arc
Xperia Play
Xperia Neo
Xperia Mini
Xperia Mini Pro
Xperia Pro
Xperia Active
Live with Walkman

The update will only be available for download via PC Companion and Bridge for Mac to ensure that customers make a “conscious and informed decision to upgrade.” Users will carrier specific ROMs of their phones will likely wait for a bit longer but Sony assures that they will be made available as soon as they’re ready to go.
