The Oreo turns 100

The iconic sandwich cookie is about to celebrate it’s centennial anniversary and to commemorate the momentous event for March 6, Kraft Foods has begun a worldwide campaign for Oreo. Aside from the usual ads in stores, media, events, promotions, consumers can also participate in can join the celebration with a limited-edition variety of the cookies called Birthday Cake Oreos.
“What we’ve really set out to do is something authentic for the brand, true to its roots, that is fresh for today,” said John Ghingo, senior director for global biscuits at the East Hanover, N.J., office of Kraft Foods. “We want to acknowledge what Oreo has been over the past 100 years and recognize what it means in today’s world.”
The company’s new advertising campaign centers around the theme “Celebrate the kid inside” which can be visibly recognized in commercials set to come out in national televiosion, their microsite (oreo.com/birthday) and their facebook page (here).
